It's Historic and It's Home.

Welcome to the Shipcarpenter Square website. As a historic preservation homeowners association, Shipcarpenter Square is dedicated to creating a community of authentically restored 18th and 19th century homes.

Shipcarpenter Square is located in the historic district of the beautiful 17th century coastal town of Lewes, Delaware. The community’s boundaries encompass the area from Third Street and Fourth Street on the east and west, and Burton Street and Park Street on the north and south. An inner ring road provides parking and foot access to residences. A Commons or Green lies at the heart of the

community and is accessible to pedestrians from Park Street and from two designated rights of way on the north and south boundaries of the green.

Visitors to our website can learn about the historical background of Shipcarpenter Square, and can access the text of important Association documents, including our basic Declaration and Restrictions document, and Association By Laws. An informal summary of the historic preservation guidelines used by the Shipcarpenter Square Architectural Review Committee is also included.
